Sandhill Crane Migration-Kearney, Nebraska

We spent 3 days in Kearney, Nebraska during the annual Sandhill Crane migration. Each year for about a month, the Platte River between Kearney and Grand island host 600,000 Sandhill cranes as they rest on their northward migration. Cranes spent the daylight hours in farm fields and nighttime hours on the river. Each day at sunset, the cranes head to the river to roost for the night and head to the fields at sunrise. What an amazing natural phenomenon!
